Regrettably this film smells like US establishment propaganda. Lets start with a few simple facts. The US has been a persistently negative influence in Latin American. Just one example, the vicious Augusto Pinochet regime in Chile (as a result of a CIA backed coup). With regards to Venezuela, the less lazy of us might have taken a look at the stats that show the Chavez and Maduro governments, actually reduced core poverty, illiteracy and homelessness. Of course, they are framed by the US establishment as despicable nonetheless, because both refused to hand their nations oil resources over to corporate USA. With this in mind, its hard to take this film seriously. The alleged villainy of the Venezuelan government just doesn't ring true. Worse still, the action feels stilted, the film overly drawn out and quite frankly, tedious. Its unfortunate too, because I genuinely like Frank Grillo. He's a decent action flick actor. In summary, a ham fisted pro US bias ruins any potential this film might have had as actual entertainment. Not helped by mediocre action and an overly long run time.
